Join us in Episode 609 for a show jam-packed with "tips and tricks" from two of the quilt world's best. Award-winning quilter, Judy Woodworth, shares the techniques she uses to create out-of-the-box, freeform quilted feathers. She even gets Alex in on the fun! Then author and quilt-show organizer, Bonnie Browning, shows that carefully chosen and applied borders and bindings can catapult your quilts over the top. Her no-measure, paper-folding binding technique will have you running to the office-supply store. There is so much "good stuff" in this show, you'll want to watch it again and again. This week's Quilt of the Week was chosen by Alex. It's called "Panic." It's 47" x 58" and is made of commercial batiks. It mixes piecing and applique and was machine pieced and machine quilted. It's from a purchased pattern by Kathie Alyce and uses the Flip Flop Block.
Aunt Sewsie says "I named this quilt "Panic" because I had several mishaps along the way -- a great learning experience. I loved making this quilt so much and then had some faulous quilting done on it by a long-arm quilter that I wasn't going to give up. I'm glad I didn't."
We're glad you didn't either AuntSewsie.

Me and Pat Holly - who won her third Best Miniature Quilt award at AQS this year.
Each year at the AQS show, Caryl Bryer Fallert hosts a fabulous dinner party and I always enjoy going because so many of my good friends are there. This year was no exception and many of the attendees are well-known prize-winning quilt artists. Among those assembled were Libby Lehman, Mariya Waters, Hollis Chatelain, Pat Holly, Laura Wasilowsky, Annette Hendricks, Denise Havlan, Wendy Butler Burns, Judy Zoelzer Levine, Marilyn Badger, Claudia Clark Meyers, and more.

Last week Alex wanted to know, What was, or is, your profession? She had over 125 replies (many of which included multiple answers). Here are just a few of the "hats" all you quilters wear or have worn in the past.
These jobs are listed in no particular order and represent the amazing diversity of our TQS members. Of all the replies, there seemed to be quite a few teachers, but most of you replied that being a quilter was a big part of your life and being a Mom or Dad was the most important job of all.
To see all of the replies, just click here. If you find someone's story in which you are interested, don't forget you can always click on their name and send them a message.
