Totally NQR (not quilt related); but thought you might like this picture.  While Ricky, his best friend and family, and I were at Mesa Verde National Park outside Durango, CO; I came upon this Mourning Dove and his little one.  I say "his" because Mourning Doves generally have the father nesting during the day and the mother at night.  Nonetheless, it gave me pause to reflect on my Dad's and my brief life together.  Although I lost him when I was 18, I had 18 wonderful years with him and like this father dove, he was loving, attentive, and protective.  I probably had the same expression at the end of the day too as this little guy...."grrrr, what you lookin' at Arnold!"

This Father's Day, what wonderful memories do you have of your Father or Grandfather on this day we set aside to honor our fathers????

Be ready to be amazed as you take a journey into the dreamlike landscapes of Gloria Loughman's quilts.  Gloria's quilts are fantastic representations of her native homeland, Australia.  To learn more about her work watch Episode 612 - Nature's Journey.

You will want to see this on full screen.  In the lower right corner click on the opposing arrows.

Recently I  photographed my quilts with my new fancy dancy camera (Nikon90) - sounds easy? NO!!!! This meant plowing through my quilts, hanging them and then refolding them to fit back into their tight space - However.....the hidden blessing was that I found this quilt!!! I thought it exisited, but couldn't find it - and then I was beginning to question my memory (I know NONE of you can relate to that Tongue out) AND THEN....there she was!!!! Is this something I should consider patterning (38" x 38")?

TQS Member, sharequilts, took "Best of Show" Quilting at the San Mateo County Fair in California with her quilt, Stars for a New Day.  This was the TQS Pieced BOM for 2009 designed by Sue Garman.  Is it time for you to get started on a BOM for 2010? There are still kits available for both the pieced and appliqued quilts.  Click here and see what tickles your fancy and maybe next year, you'll win BEST OF SHOW.  Congratulations, sharequilts!
