Join Susanne in celebrating the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin’s walk on the moon.

She writes:

The Eagle has landed. One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind! What is your memory of the moon mission, Apollo XI? I was 16 when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon on July 20, 1969. I watched it on TV with my grandmother, who was born during the horse and buggy era, and my cousin, April. I remember how amazed my grandmother was that she was watching men walking on the moon. I was further intrigued to find out that Buzz Aldrin had roomed in college with April’s uncle. Years later I discovered that my father-in-law was on the design committee for the lunar module. Those are my connections to the lunar landing, what are yours?

This is a great idea from WeAllSew.com and Christine Conner from Amélie Scott Designs.

It's a bag that holds all you need to sew on a binding: needles, thread, needle threader, binding clips, small scissors, and a thimble. Christine also created an edge-to-edge quilting design, which you can download for free!

Derick Melander creates enormous textile sculptures out of secondhand clothes.

"I create large geometric configurations from carefully folded and stacked secondhand clothing.  These structures take the form of wedges, columns and walls, typically weighing between five hundred pounds and two tons. Larger works are often site-responsive, creating discrete environments."
