Could You Make a Quilt with 11 Friends?

Aiko Saito did just that. Using textured fabrics and help from 11 friends, Aiko created The Beautiful Tiles of Park Güell. They used the fabrics to imitate the tiles in the park. Aiko suggests that you observe the quilt close up and then take a look back from afar to enjoy its beauty. The Park is in Barcelona, Spain and a picture of it is below the quilt pictures. It should now be on your bucket list to see the quilt and the park in person.

The Beautiful Tiles of Park Güell was on exhibit at the Houston International Quilt Festival 2018.

Suzy's background is as a traditional quilter. In Campfire, she took a simple log cabin block and exploded it to a larger size using negative space.

I am a curious person...always wanting to understand and know the people around me. And, because I am a stitcher, I am especially fascinated by other stitchers. So here is the poll I am putting out there...Are you a Smorgasbord Stitcher:..stitching several projects at the same time? Or are you a Entrée Stitcher... working on one project at a time??? Curious minds want to know. I would also like to know why? As you may know, if you have been reading my musings for a while, I am a Smorgasbord Stitcher. I am trying to figure out if it is a stressful way to stitch, and if it is even possible to change who you are?

When I am in The Bee Hive, I easily have a dozen different projects going, but on the road that number is decreased and yet I have a variety. I find having a variety keeps me from getting bored...but, I wonder what drives a Entrée Stitcher?

Currently the three projects I am working on are a personal design started in a Sue Spargo workshop, a Buttermilk Basin BOM designed by Stacy West,  and a free download cross stitch by Jacob of Modern Folk Embroidery.

So let me know...Smorgasbord or Entrée Stitcher?

Stay tuned and travel along with us on Quilt Roadies...where we are connecting one quilter and one shop at a time!!

SEQUOIA SAMPLER "REMIX" PATTERN

As seen in Show 2403.

We offered this quilt as a kit in the fall and it sold out instantly. A second batch of kits were offered to TQS Star Members and they sold out instantly as well, so we decided to make the pattern available!

Alex designed the Sequoia Sampler quilt using Edyta Sitar's Sequoia collection from Andover Fabrics, but it is so versatile that it will show off any fabric- batiks, modern fabrics, 1930s, traditional fabrics, or your favorite scraps!

The Sequoia Sampler REMIX pattern offers a basic layout for the quilt top but leaves the choice of patterns and placement for the 18 six-inch blocks and the appliqué pieces to the maker, so that every quilt will be uniquely meaningful to its creator.

It took Lisa H. Calle five years to complete this quilt. It was her first try at hand appliqué, which she loved, but she said the paper-piecing almost killed her. She also had a bit of a problem with the colors bleeding. Whatever the issue, Lisa solved it and ended up with quite a spectacular quilt.
