Inspired by her love of Art Deco and Erté, a Russian-born French artist and designer, Susan de Vanny created a quilt that combined both her interests. Erté Bazaar II was based off of "the cover illustration Erté did for Harper's Bazaar, January 1923." Featured in Houston 2017 in the Art-Whimsical category, Susan used her "own improvised pieced background inspired by colors of The Kiss by Gustav Klimt. The quilting has been kept to simple fan-like shapes." With machine piecing, machine appliqué, fusing, and machine embellishment, Susan brings her inspiration to life with a kick in its step.
