Technology is so advanced these days that soon our sewing machines may be doing the sewing without our help. For now though, we celebrate technology's achievements with our art, which is what Julie McAllister did. She took Carl de Torres' image of Robot Surgeon and created Robo de Torres. Featured at PIQF 2019 at the World Quilt Competition, Julie's quilt used raw edged appliqué techniques to show off "the impact of AI (Artificial Intelligence) on all aspects of our daily working life" as represented in Carl's illustration.

Robo de Torres by Julie McAllister of Australia was featured in the World Quilt Competition at the Pacific International Quilt Festival (PIQF) 2019.

Oh my golly, wow! I love the Robo de Torres quilt. All the things about it: design, large size, the perfect colors, the quilting! If it has been purchased, I hope it lives where it will be seen by lots of folks. thanks TQS for showing us so many wonderful works of the quilting arts over the years. Happy New Year!
