Sometimes one artist's work in one medium can inspire another's in a completely different field. This was the case with Katherine Dossman and her quilt Maison Mondrian 2. She says about the quilt, "Inspired by Piet Mondrian I wanted to create a wall quilt using the same bold colors." Winning Best Interpretation of Mid-Century Theme Modern at PIQF 2019, it was "improv pieced" and "embellished with big stitch quilting." Talk about making a statement.
Maison Mondrian 2 by Katherine Dossman of Belton, Texas won Best Interpretation of Mid-Century Theme Modern at the Pacific International Quilt Festival (PIQF) 2019.
