Wanting to make a Lone Star quilt, Teri drew out the "bone structure" for her quilt, Twilight in the Bronx, and did some trapunto work, sandwiched the quilt together, and then did the rest of the quilting. However, when all was said and done the quilting couldn't be seen because it was black on black. So what did Teri do? She ripped it all out and quilted it again!

I had just bought Teri's book and spent an hour just trying to figure out how this was done. Then it shows up here! Teri explains her study in thread. The book is great.

I wish the photos had been lighter/more clear, so we could really see the construction & stitching.
If this sounds petty, I apologize.
What I can see is lovely.

I would NOT have picked out the first effort. I would have redone the piecing. But the muse instructs each of us individually/

The quilting in contrasting color(s) makes this quilt all that it can be. Unbelievable that this is the maker's second attempt at the quilting and that she had the steely resolve to pick out the first effort!

Stunning, but that was a mammoth task if she had to rip out that much quilting. Hope she changed her mind early on in the process!
