It's like Theatre de la Mode, which was produced in 1944 (I think) in Paris. Because of a wartime shortage of materials, all the fashion houses produced their collections in this miniature size. They even had miniature purses and lipsticks that were identical to the real thing. Theatre set designers then created elaborate little sets to showcase the dolls in.

When the Dior show was at the MOMA in Denver there was a showing of miniatures of the Dior collection and they were exquisite. The details, including accessories to each outfit, were unbelievable. It was one of the best shows I have seen at a museum.

How exquisite! It's good to know that these techniques are still being used, just for the beauty that these workers in the atelier made. thanks for posting this.
