Lisa Walton, textile artist and past President of SAQA, recently sat down with Ricky to talk about the creation of his quilt, Northern Lights , as part of her series of interviews called Quilt Stories . Lisa has been interviewing many interesting quilters about specific quilts and will also be sharing them online.

Wonderful story of your Dad and the quilt. My Mom is 94, with dementia, and I just spent the last 6 months with her. We ssewed together, took car rides together, and just made memories. I don't know how much longer she will be here, but how lucky I was to spend so much time with her

One of your best segments. Loved Ricky's story of his Dad's help on Northern Lights. My Mom finished a quilt started 27 years earlier while she stayed with us after open heart surgery. I made a mini replica of that quilt from her clothes after she didn't survive the second surgery. The stories behind quilts are precious. Quilts can be healing. Thanks for showing us the new growth, Ricky!
