Karen Stabile discovered her latest quilt design appeared to be based on choices she was making for her new house. She'd been doing research on new windows and doors when inspiration struck.

Windows and Doors by Karen Stabile of Bastrop, TX won Third Place, Fabric Challenge, sponsored by ME + YOU, at QuiltCon 2020.

I absolutely love it! ... the concept, the colors, the quilting. I love the contrast between the geometric piecing and the fun and whimsical quilting. So well done!

The decisions one doesn't have to make when building a new house! Gets overwhelming after a while.

This quilt has a very calming effect and deserves to be hung up on a wall where it can provide comfort. The colors are soft and comforting and the design provides gentle eye movement. Love this quilt,

Love! In 1974 we moved into a house with a kitchen I decided would have orange and yellow. I just started to take quilting lessons (everything by hand), and decided orange would be my color for the quilt. In this lockdown, I have finally finished it, called Then and Now, incorporating some new orange batik and modern blocks and it looks great!

Great quilt! Initially I thought it was hand pieced, until I studied the close up photo. The color and fabrics are very peaceful and soothing.
