We caught up with Lorena Uriarte on the show floor of QuiltCon 2020 where she talked to us about how she made her award-winning quilt, Dynamic Hypnotic. While the piecing might be quite simple, it's the hand quilting that is impressive.

Below, Lorena talks about how she made the quilt followed by photos.

Dynamic Hypnotic won Third PlaceQuilting Challenge, sponsored by American Patchwork & Quilting, at QuiltCon 2020.

Not a fan of this quilt, I am a person who had menstrual migraines, now gone with menopause, but am dyslexic and dysgraphic. This quilt gave me the shudders, happil y not a migraine. Please state if you are going to feature a quilt with optical illusions, they are not intriguing for many of us.

Lorena,
I love your quilt! I like that it gives the optical illusion of movement. The quilting is excellent.

That is the most amazing quilt! I love looking at impossible appearing images. Amazing work and I will never have that patience!

Neat effect! I love the colors and the combination of machine and hand quilting is unique. Simple but effective.

I look forward to studying the little details of the quilts you feature here. I'm always looking for quilting motif ideas and seeing what shapes they are used in. One suggestion, please. If you can only fit in 4 pictures (or 3 or ?? ) then we probably do not need to see a close-up of the award ribbon. See you again next time!

I love this quilt!! So unusual, but fun for me to look at. I love 3-D stuff too. I admire the artist's dedication to doing all those straight lines, and winning a ribbon. Congratulations to her for an out-of-the-box idea. Especially since she fussy-cut those.

Menopause relieved me of my migraines. This quilt almost gave me one! I now have a slight headache.
Horrible idea for a quilt IMHO. Sorry!

Please post a migraine warning on these photos.
Shadow them and let the viewer click.
It may be gorgeous in real life, but it is a heart stabber on screen for those of us with optical migraines.
