The 2020 SAQA Annual Conference, moSAiQA, has become a virtual event! And so has the colorful highlight of every conference—the Spotlight Auction.

See a preview of the quilts at saqa.com/spotlight and read on to learn more.

This year, 266 works made and donated by SAQA members from around the world stand ready to be snapped up by collectors. The small-format pieces are presented in an 8 x10-inch mat with a 4.5 x 6.5-inch opening; each quilt is approximately 6 x 8 inches.

Conference attendees normally vie for these pieces in a silent auction held during the conference banquet.  But this year, bidders worldwide are invited to join in the spirited auction via Bidding Owl, a charity auction site. You do not have to be a SAQA member to bid. Bidding is open now. The opening bid for any quilt is $20, with $10 increments thereafter. You can see the quilts and find the link to register to bid at saqa.com/spotlight.

The quilts are arranged into sections called tables, much like they are presented during a live auction. This year, there are eight virtual tables and each has a different end time. Tables 1 through 4 will close every 30 minutes tonight from 7:30-9 p.m. EDT; Tables 5 through 8 will close between 7:30-9 p.m. EDT tomorrow, Saturday, March 21. Before you bid, you will need to register through Bidding Owl, so plan your time accordingly.

Shipping costs are added to your winning lots. For up to five pieces, shipping to the United States and Canada is $15. Shipping to other countries is $30 for up to five pieces.

Once the bidding is over, winning bidders receive automatic email notifications with instructions on how to check out. If you are bidding on multiple pieces, please wait until all the tables close before starting the checkout process.

Below are a few of the many quilts up for bid in the 2020 Spotlight Auction. The Quilt Show is a sponsor of SAQA’s moSAiQA conference, originally scheduled to be held in Toronto.
