We love the way Denise Griffiths intrepreted her native Australian flowers in her quilt, Floris Circularis, and the graphic use of the black and white semi-circle on the side. It all works together to make a spectacular quilt.

This quilt was on display as part of the Alternative Techniques exhibit at the Houston International Quilt Festival 2018.

Love this quilt, the black and white background works really well! And for fitness.jrbs: There are, of course, white bottlebrushes in Australia - Callistemon salignus.

So elegant! Thank you for adding a new place to add for my Places To Go List! Australia!! All from the flowers represented in your quilt! Marvelous!

Met Denise in Houston two years ago. She is a lovely and talented person. You need to have her in your show she teaches her technique. We are meeting up in Houston this October. She has a quilt in the Blue and white challenge.

This quilt has so many different skills used on it! From a distance it looks like a very basic quilt...close up WOW!

Love the flowers with the black and white, but a white bottlebrush???? I thought they were usually red, and sometimes pink, at least those are the colours of the bottlebrushes in my New Zealand garden.

Beautiful floral applique work, but for me, the black and white background is a little overpowering. Maori basket?

In your email notification of this post, you ask what is a waratah. It is the state floral emblem of New South Wales, the state in which both Denise and I live. Congratulations Denise on such a beautiful depiction of that beautiful flower, along with the others
