Ann Lillholm's No Return is a thought-provoking Modern quilt. The image is quite simple, with stunning quilting, but the idea behind what she was trying to express will make you think. Find out what she has to say about our time on Earth.

No Return was on exhibit at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah Spring 2019 and also won 2nd Place - Wall Quilts - 1st Entry in an AQS Lancaster Quilt Contest.

Techniques: Hand-appliquéd, machine quilted
Quilting Method: Movable Machine

Artist Statement:
From birth to death, we go through different stages. We have good and less good things happening in life; days with more colors and days with fewer colors. We have periods in life where life goes up and days where it goes down. Sometimes we decide to go right an other days we go left. Nobody knows what life's journey will bring us, the only thing that is for sure is there is No return. We simply have to follow the path. This I have shown with the arrows quilted around the colored bubbles.

I am very drawn to quilts with negative space.
This one is quite cheery, and make you eye follow the path. The design and the quilting take you on a journey.

Love the quilt, a masterpiece. It has to be since she comes from the same town as Vincent van Gogh!

What a beautiful and at the same time quite thought-provoki ng quilt! As I sit here just looking at it (full screen) I really like the green for the background. Green always makes me think about life, alive, growing, etc. I'm still thinking about life and the circle's colors as they gradate through the whole quilt. Absolutely a winner!

Wow. This should be a flag for the environmental protection movement. No return. Yes, I will be thinking about this quilt for along time.

I love this quilt and the thought behind it. When I first looked at it, I thought the path was going downward - I then realized that the “geese” were flying upward like our journey through life. The grey circles at the top are significant to me - I am at that place in my Journey through life.
