Today we continue our selection of quilts recently displayed at the Spring Paducah 2019 show featured as part of The 14th Quilt Nihon Exhibition.

Capt'n John --"This exhibit was a constant surprise to me. With every quilt you had to get closer to realize what amazing work was done. I loved the birds flying...then I realized that this is a log cabin quilt!...then I saw the creative quilting design (on a log cabin?)...then, hey wait -- is this embellished....?

The exhibit is described as:

"Organized by the Japan Handicraft Instructors' Association, the Quilt Nihon Exhibition is one of the most prestigious international quilt contests in Japan. The exhibit features 42 quilts from the "Innovative Traditional" category, which will later be exhibited at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Art."

Please enjoy the third quilt from the exhibition by Mikiyo Sugimoto.

I am touched by the story behind this work. Such movement and powerful symbolism expressed perfectly in this quilt. Great work on so many levels!!!

What an incredible quilt on so many levels. Great series of photos to show what was done to contribute to this work of art.

This is not what you picture when you hear log cabin and I mean that in a good way. The movement and color choices are spot on. I really like this quilt.
