I know that I have talked all about Sashiko...kinda like a broken record. But truly it is the most relaxing stitch project because you only have to bring along your stitch canvas, a Sashiko needle and a skein of Sashiko thread. I love it for a car project. One of my favorite Sashiko designers is Sylvia Pippen, formerly of Hawaii and now currently in Washington State. She has a brick and mortar shop in La Conner, Washington. Both my girlfriend and I signed up for her latest BOM (Block Of the Month) which was called Flight.
The wonderful thing about this particular project is...it is double the fun...or rather, triple the fun because it combines my other favorites. Wool appliqué and needle turn appliqué. But...full disclosure, I haven't started mine but my bestie has been keeping up (yeah...we all have one friend like that, lol) After visiting her and seeing the progress with her blocks I know I have to get going on this project because it is spectacular! Although her blocks are not totally finished, you get the idea of what they will ultimately look like. I love the marbleized cotton fabric included in this BOM. Be sure to check out Sylvia's webpage and prepared to be WOW'd!
(Apologies to Sylvia, there is a typo regarding her name in the slideshow.)
