Ricky Just Received 1700 Trees - It's Time to Replant

After a devastating fire in Colorado, Ricky asked for help to re-forest the area. So many people were quick to respond and now the trees have arrived.

Ricky writes,

The trees are here! So many of you contributed to the tree fund! Thank you. We have 1700 trees of various varieties. Mostly the same kinds that burned. Tree planting starts May 22 - June 5. We will help Mother Nature recover from the fire.

Are you having a tree planting party? Just ask people to bring their shovel. Many hands make light work :-)

I, too have lived through wildfires, so has my sister and brother-in-law. I don't know of more helpless, frightening feeling knowing the magnitude of a fire. The last fire that threatened my home was thirty-nine square miles, aiming straight towards my home. The firefighters, both on land and in the air turned the fire down a remote canyon so it burned out, two weeks later Seeing those wonderful trees reminds of the good in this world. I wish I was close by, I would happily help plant. All the best

Wonderful that people are stepping up to help Mother Nature to recover. Be careful not to "J-root"! Make sure the root goes straight down in the hole. Don't let it bend. Dig a deep enough hole. I learned that from CDF (CA Dept of Forestry) when my class helped to plant in an area that had been logged.

That's the way! And sure hope you have a small army of volunteers to help plant...maybe BenGay will ship a couple cartons to the volunteers for free! Here's to regrowth in oh so many ways.
