I had the pleasure last week of being a guest speaker at the Mountain Meadow Quilt Guild...the topic...My Quilting Life (you can check out Quilt Roadies for my quilts). But, here's the thing...I may have been the guest speaker, but I was wowed by the show 'n tell! Plus, I actually saw something I have never seen before! Doilies...yeah you heard me, doilies! But, not what you might remember from grandma's house.

Sue Schimke taught herself to make doilies by using this book...

And then, she incorporated the doily making with her quilting! Aren't they amazing! I continue to be amazed by quilters and their ability to up the bar.

I was so impressed with the Mountain Meadow Quilt Guild...they have a large membership in a small community. They are supportive of each other and also are involved in philanthropic endeavors. Once a year they have a wonderful Quilt Show in August that I enjoy! I hope you enjoy a glimpse of their show 'n tell and consider visiting their quilt show in Sunriver, Oregon!

I saw a beautiful exhibit by Amy Meissner, titled Inheritance: makers, memory, myth, at the Anchorage Museum in August of 2018. She incorporated vintage linens, including doilies, into her art pieces. It was a spectacular exhibit! You can see images of it on her website.
