We loved this Flanders Basket quilt that was on exhibit as part of the Childress Collection at QuiltCon 2019. There appears to be some method to the madness, but we aren't entirely sure what that might be... A definite handmade scrap quilt created with both cotton and polyester fabrics, we particularly love the basket in green.

I love how it reads overall and I especially enjoy the freedom and spontaneity of block placement and quilting! Yummers!

if Picasso made a painting of baskets, this would be it!

I made a blouse for myself in jr high with that periwinkle pink aqua floral! yes, cotton poly that never wrinkled, fab stuff. I betcha I have a piece of it somewhere since my stash dates back to my garment sewing in school! Such fun... my first quilting efforts were with deconstructed men's cotton garments, I made 9 patches. Wonder where that went??

There's something to be said for not being afraid of the quilt police! :D

Very spontaneous. I don't really think there was a method beyond sewing the blocks together. New quilters are sometimes not aware of directionality due to inexperience. They are more concerned with just getting it done. There does not seem to be any pattern in the hand quilting either. Still a great quilt.

A wild child of the 60s. The quilting is all over the place, too. Maybe we lost some of the whimsy and spontaneity when we got rotary cutters and rulers. Delightful
