Carson Converse wanted to find some order and tranquility in this crazy world. This resulted in the creation of Passage, a "quiet" quilt that pushes the boundaries of minimalism. It is machine pieced and hand-dyed.

Passage was on display in the Abstract Small exhibit at the Houston International Quilt Festival 2018.

Wow! I get it! At first I agreed with many that yellow isn't calming. I took Capt'n John's advice and just stared at the quilt. The longer I looked, the more I saw and understood. It reminds me of the pale yellow early morning sun just after sunrise...not a lot of heat but a whole day ahead. It's calming, peaceful and inspires hope. I especially love the use of pale yellow thread in between two bands of yellow fabric, then the switch to white. thread. Very inspirational!

I love this, my kind of quilt. Nothing to get, just enjoy the simplicity and the quilting. Inspirational. But I wish the size of it were given - says it is in a Small category but how small is that?

Thanks, Captain John, for the effort you make to take the pictures of the quilts at shows so we can see them.
Most of us can't get to these shows and it is great that we can see so many of these quilts through your work. Thank you.

I really like this. Very zen. From a calming perspective, this really works.

I agree with Itssewmoab. Yellow is not calming to me. An earthy tone would be calming. Yellow for me brings out tension and uneasiness. It maybe calming to make though.

I think it may be impressive in person. It certainly reflects the new ideas in quilting. Every quilter should have a voice.
