Megumi was inspired by the the blue flowers found in antique Dutch tiles. She mainly used deeper indigo blue cloth, said to be "Japan Blue," which is a traditional Japanese color. The handwork is stunning, as she employed everything from embroidery stitches and beading, to yo-yos and little pieces of appliqué. We can see why the little bird is singing "Be Happy..."

Be Happy was displayed as part of the Handmade exhibit at the Houston International Quilt Festival 2018.

I have to agree with Joan - the simple flower in the middle detracts from all the hard tedious work put into the rest of the quilt.

8) Glad to see that I am not the only one to see that center and weep, as it is so"today" and the rest of the beautiful quilt is the ultimate in perfection of color and of generational characteristics .

I am ever disappointed in the beauty and wonderful hand work of the Ladies from Japan. I can only imagine the peacefulness of the hundreds of hours it took to made this Masterpiece. Thanks so much for sharing your time from the 2018 Show. God willing I will NOT MISS THIS YEARS SHOW!

Every day with the quilt pictures I see I am awed at the amazing talent and creativity of quilters all over the world. Megumi has done a wonderful job both in creativity and workmanship. Congratulations on an outstanding quilt!!

I just love the quilt. It is a stunner, except for the middle. I feel it doesn't fit==would have loved a bluebird only in the middle maybe.

Gorgeous! This one is over the top! She doesn't say how long she spent making this masterpiece and I would be curious to know that. Not sure why you didn't get an award though.

I love everything but the red flower... it looks like an escapee from a different quilt!
