These quilt blocks are stunning... and fun to make!

Starting this month we are offering MJ Kinman's amazing Birthstone Quilt Blocks in the store - right now. We have the January Garnet and the February Amethyst block patterns and fabric bundles in stock, and the rest of the months are on their way! We had originally intended to offer one each month, but when we tried making one it was SO much fun that we decided we couldn't wait to share them.

MJ Kinman Birthstone Series

We made the Diamond block (April's Birthstone, available in the store soon!) and found that piecing it was very straightforward. It went together quickly, and most importantly, it was FUN to make!

Each block is offered separately so you can make them all and make a quilt, or make your favorites as wall hangings, pillows, or whatever you can imagine.

We recommend an Add-A-Quarter Ruler to make this project a cinch!

To make the quilt, you cut apart the freezer paper template that is provided with the pattern and iron the pieces to the fabric before cutting around them with an additional quarter inch seam allowance. The Add-A-Quarter makes this super easy!

Thanks for your comment @Primrose55!

The Birthstone patterns that we have in our store are the revised version where the block sizing error has been corrected. We also measured them just to make sure!

Happy Quilting!

MJ is training Gem Affiliates to teach her method - check her website for teachers in your area! Invite them to teach at your local shop or guild.

Lovely patterns agreed, but there were/are mistakes with 5 patterns. I don't know if they have been corrected on the ones the Quilt Show is selling. A video was released last June explaining the pattern mistakes and how to correct them. The video is on utube by MJ Kinman.
My seller here in the UK suggested that we check to see if any errata on any patterns is out there before starting. Wise words I think.
I have 4 of the patterns to start this year, happy sewing everyone.
