Ana Maria Farre believes that her quilt, Pisando Fuerte (roughly translates to Stepping Strong), is a reflection of herself. Well, we wonder if that is how Alex thinks as well, as she also created a quilt featuring red tennis shoes. Click here to see Alex's quilt and its development.

Ana Maria's quilt won 1st Place Pictorial at the Houston International Quilt Festival 2018.

Seeing this quilt brought tears. I still have a pair of bright orange Converse shoes that was just one of many very colorful pairs that my son used to wear. He died of brain cancer when he was a junior in college. Those tennis shoes totally expressed his personality. I am inspired now to commemorate him by making a quilt of those shoes. I totally get what the quilter meant when she said her quilt of red shoes depicts who she is!

As a reflection of herself it is quite interesting -- not only are they laced very differently and un-symmetricall y, the one on the right is a regular sneaker and the one on the right is a high-top.

Now this is really different. So cool looking.

This quilt made me smile. I had sneakers like these as a kid but mine were probably dirtier!

Good execution, but I don’t care for it. The name makes no sense, (you’re dirty, you can’t tie tennis shoes, what???). Visually, the whole thing makes no sense to me. However, it won a prize, so my opinion must be off.
