Philippa Naylor's miniature quilt (11 1/2" x 11 1/2"), Measure for Measure, has won quite a few. Including, but not limited to:
  • 3rd Place Miniature - Houston International Quilt Festival 2018
  • 2018 Best Miniature Purchase Award AQS - Paducah
  • 2017 Best Of Show at the Festival Of Quilts Birmingham, England - The first time a miniature quilt has won BOS at Birmingham.
It was made using turned-edge appliqué. The smallest circle on the quilt is the size of a hole punch hole. To learn more about how the quilt was made, watch Alex's interview with Philippa.

This is eye candy--and so delicious!

Could a quilt artist negotiate with Paducah to let the quilt travel for a year for others to see and reward before being relinquished to the museum? Seems like that could be a win-win for both artist and museum.

Really lovely interview with Alex and Philippa, and so interesting to hear Philippa describe her working processes. In Philippa's book "Applique Mastery", she shares many of the techniques she uses to achieve her beautiful quilts. This miniature quilt is perfect, which is not surprising, given how beautiful her other quilts are. I would love to see Philippa on The Quilt Show

This is such a pretty quilt and really deserves all those prizes. Thanks to Phillippa Naylor for describing her process of designing and redesigning as she worked, and for sharing some of her secrets. Congratulations ! Hope to see you on a TQS episode soon.

I can see why this quilt won. Looking at the full photo, it almost looks like fluffy white frosting with little colored candies in a nice decor arrangement on top. It is just lovely and so elegant. I can see why she is keeping it. This one would be hard to give up.

Philippa mentions in the video that she decided to keep the quilt and to decline the Paducah purchase prize.

So fragile looking and elegant, just exquisite workmanship.

I stood for ages in front of this little beauty. Absolute perfection. I have a question though. If it won a purchase prize at Paducah how did it get to Houston. I thought once a purchase prize was won, the quilt had to be given up?
