Karlee Porter's quilt, The Royal Huntress, challenged and stretched her skills. She wanted to push herself as a fiber artist and wanted the quilt to gush radiance and elegance. We think with over 1 million stitches, 2000 crystals and beads, and 450 hours of work, she achieved her goal. Did we mention this is a wholecloth quilt?

Karlee's quilt won Third place in the Alternative Techniques category at the Houston Quilt Festival 2018.

This is a work of art beyond daVinci and Michelangelo. It certainly deserved at least 1st place and realistically Best in Show.

Could you invite Carlee as a guest on the quilt show so that we may get a glimpse into her process? Maybe she could do some mini cloth tutorials that explain the processes? This is really a puzzle to me- being whole cloth. How she did the couching and color changes...

I wish she could do classes on her techniques! When I read about the process it is mindblowing! Envious of the patience required to make just one piece and take that much time, her creative genesis is so multifactorial! How did she pull this off to be so cohesive? A true puzzle of ingenuity!

What energy comes from the use of colors is terrific. The different threads and crystal use takes it to a whole new level. Im amazed it did not take three times as long to complete. Outstanding

Love this quilt. A lot of time, but well worth it. Took 11-12 weeks at a 40 hour week.
