We'd all be pretty excited if we found out we'd won a "Best of Show" ribbon, but how do you think Lynda Jackson of the United Kingdom felt when she discovered her quilt, Silver Linings, won "Best of World" at the 2018 World Quilt Competition XXII? And it all started as a doodle.

Silver Linings was on exhibit at the Pacific International Quilt Festival 2018.

:-) Guess we learn things when other people make comments. The quilter says not to steam. I wash my quilts so I would steam if I was in a hurry, but I don't make art quilts, just utility quilts. It is a beautiful piece.

There is such as thing as "constructive comments", that don't distract from the work, but make an observable comment. I don't think mentioning the creases was a put down, just an observation I wondered about myself. The steamer was a good idea. Now I do think that "hateful" comments are definitely better left unsaid.

Glorious! My eye cannot stop moving around this quilt. Love the subtle changes in color. So deserving of the prize. SO wish I could see this in person!

So as my previous message said extraordinary quilt! Beautiful talent !
When did we forget about if you can’t say something nice don’t say anything at all. This quilter isextremely talented...let’ s not be unkind. A wrinkle does not take away from the quilt... it is not static it is a piece of art.

This is an extraordinary example of a whole cloth quilt!
Your artistic ability is amazing.

Breathtaking! In reading the comments, I had to go back to look at the picture to see the 'creases'. I was looking so hard at the beautiful quilting and detail that I completely missed the fold lines! Picky, picky, picky! Love it! Congratulations !!!
