Collector and author Bill Volckening shares the story behind a very bright polyester quilt from the 1970s in this Go Tell It at the Quilt Show! video from the Quilt Alliance. It's construction is quite unique.

One quilt, one person, one video camera, three minutes = another quilt story saved! Go Tell It at the Quilt Show! is a Quilt Alliance project designed to capture the stories of quilts where quiltmakers gather. Bill Volckening was interviewed during QuiltCon 2015 in Austin, Texas.

I wish I could see just a photo of this quilt so I could blow it up to see the construction! Quite Unique in many ways!

My grandmother made several of the double-knit quilts.
I inherited several bags of double-knit quilt pieces from her & am slowly making quilts from them.
And yes, the quilts are extremely warm & do not need any batting.

I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how this quilt was put together. I thought I could see the block but it looks like partial seams were used? And rick rack too? Quite complicated and ingenious!

The maker really got the color....better than Mondrian.

My mother-in-law made many quilts from polyester for her family in the 70's, usually backed with flannel, and tied. I guess that technically would be a comforter. The quilts do not wear out. We treasure these gifts of love!

I have one that my Mother-In-law Marie made for us. It is the warmest quilt in the world good to cuddle up in the winter

I love it. Thanks for preserving quilts from this era. So many may not realize their importance until they are gone.
