Author Marie Bostwick was given a beautiful bookmark on her last book tour. Made with batik fabric, she was fascinated with the clever latticework design and thought it would be fun to make some herself. Here she shares a tutorial so you can make some too.

This article doesn't mention a tool, but there is a tool you can buy that makes doing the cutting really easy. Can't remember who makes it or it's name. I bought one several years ago at my local quilt shop and have used it to make the bookmark.

Why didn't see just buy the ruler/template to make this? It's called the Double Diamond ruler [tm]; comes in a package with 1.5 and 3.5 inch widths made in USA by Bright-Quilting Notions.com. They also have a curved one that makes circles instead of the diamonds. 701 East Spring St., PO Box 374., Titusville, PA 16354 - (866) 827-2307

I made these in 2012 with a new at the time product called the "Double Diamond" ruler. Also made placemats with the lattice as an insert. Fun projects.
