We did it! We survived the 2018 Spring International Quilt Market! Sure Enzo was a little pouty with having to just hang out at home, but he knows how important quilting is to me! I was fascinated to see the industry from a variety of different perspectives. It is definitely in flux. The energy was high and there were a lot of sore feet and squealing pocketbooks which means you will be seeing some awesome products in the near future. It is a difficult task for a shop owner to decide what their customer base would like in the future because product doesn't arrive right away...it does take time to get it to us, LOL.
I wanted to give you a peek on what a company's process is at Quilt Market and I was lucky enough to not only experience it as reporter, but also as a worker bee for Buttermilk Basin. Stacy West the designer behind Buttermilk Basin and her minions which include family and friends work hard to provide fresh new experiences in the world of wool and cotton. A company pays for square footage and booth walls and must design their booth to be a show stopper.

From this blank slate, a design must emerge much like one would design and piece a quilt. For some, their props and products are shipped, but for a family centered business like Stacy's, it means her husband George loads the trailer and drives cross country! They unload and set up...but with the vision of a designer, the set up is like a mini HGTV show!
Once the set up is done you step back and instead of rest on your laurels...you start tweaking it here and there, lol.
Stacy's newest Block of the Month is sure to be a best seller and I know that I for one am going to enjoy the process!!
