This is a quilt that succeeds by leaving you with the question, "What is fabric and what is painted?". We wish we had more time to see "Lakeside Reverie" (44" x 63") by Hallie O'Kelley up close. The techniques list are "Hand Quilted, Hand Dyeing, Fabric Painting, and Machine Piecing". Appliqué did not appear on the list. So what is painted and what is the fabric?

We love the movement, the use of squares and the modern feel of the border. Now it's time for you to see if you can tell...

The color palette on this quilt is so soothing. Lost of interesting techniques to explore and speculate about. Just a pleasure to look at!

Hallie's work is unbelievable. She is a member of the West Alabama Quilters Guild located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She purchases only PFD (prepared for dying) fabric, creates her own screen prints and prints on the PFD fabric. She also hand quilts everything. C Nix

Gorgeous....... ....and I don't care how it's done. :) I would love to have this quilt; it is so soothing to me!

I have a head start because Hallie is a longtime friend. She is known for her screen printing which is always perfection personified. Then her tiny hand quilting adds to the beauty. Congrats to her for another Paducah ribbon!

I think it's all handpainted and dyed; that's why you don't see applique on the list of techniques.
