The Rotary exhibits antique quilts each year during the Paducah Quilt Show. This year it was curated by the wonderful Mary Kerr. These 3 quilts caught our eye for different reasons. The first has wonderful circular quilting. The second is a great cherry tree with cute appliqué birds and quilted hearts. The third has a pattern with many names. Take a look.

  1. Unknown, 1890, Feathered Star
  2. Mary & Ruby Clark, 1950, Cherry Tree
  3. Sarah Redmond, 1870, Crown of Thorns.....

These beautiful quilts are timeless classics.
Whenever I come across the term "modern quilting"
I think, sure, every quilt was modern in it's time and
these quilts wouldn't look out of place in a
minimalist home.
Isn't wonderful to know that the innate desire within
us to be creative links us to the quilters of a bygone era.
Just to think they did all this beautiful work without the
luxury of the gadgets and gimmicks available now.
