Carol's quilt "Simulated Flight" (67"x 84") charmed us a Spring Paducah 2018. She uses techniques such as Applipiecing, Hand Appliqué, Machine Appliqué, Free-Motion Quilting, Paper Piecing, Machine Piecing, and Piped Edging. Her design source is "Soaring Compliments" by Caryl Bryer Fallert-Gentry and you can get a FREE tutorial from Caryl on the technique.

To get the free tutorial click here.

So, enjoy the quilt (take a look at the color gradations in the piped edging) and get going on learning the technique for yourself.

My husband is an Air Force retiree and I would love to make him an aviation quilt. Would you mind sharing how you put together the instrument panel?

I saw your quilt today at the Virginia Beach Quilt Show and I'm very curious how you assemble the instrument panel. If you wouldn't mind sharing the technique you used it would be appreciated. My husband is retired Air Force and would love to make an aviation quilt for him.

More about the symbolism of this quilt.
The base represents my Son's job, building and programming flight simulators. Technology print fabrics used in the iconic building block is the industrial beginning to simulated flight training.

I'm so blessed to be included in the "Daily Blog". I am grateful to see this picture. I was unable to attend the show.

I have a grandson training to be a fighter pilot in the U S Air Force. This quilt reminds me so very much of him and all of the other pilots. Outstanding!

Really clever. The instrument panel is so good and the sense of flight so real.
