The "Wall Quilts - Pictorial" section was filled with beautiful quilts. The competition was very strong. There were many prior award winners that did not get a ribbon this year. The quality of the work and the many techniques in this quilt must have been what brought Mariko Miwa the 1st Place prize. Here are some close-ups to give you a feel for this wonderful quilt.

Techniques included: Hand Appliqué, Machine Appliqué, Confetti, Couching, Dimensional Work, Free-Motion Quilting on a Stationery Machine, Fabric Painting, Machine Piecing, Piped Edging and Trapunto.

Thank-you
It's my quilt.
I made it with many old kimono clothes over 100 years ago.
Please enjoy the beautiful autumn leaves in Japan.

Sachiko says "It is a work of a friend! Fall in Japan is delicately expressed. It's a wonderful work. I am very proud"

The quilt is superb. I put it on Pinterest and the quilt was more dramatic. I agree that more info about the quilt and the designer would be grand,

What a stunning quilt. How big is it? How long did it take to complete? It seems that Japanese ladies have a knack for creating incredibly gorgeous quilts. Truly art!

Just so beautiful. Took me back to the house we lived in when my husband was stationed in Japan. My favorite season.
