Yoshiko Katagiri's quilt, Life, is made up entirely of appliqué circles of different sizes. Measured at 79 1/2" x 79 1/2", we have no idea how many circles are in the quilt. Would you like to count?

The quilt was on display as part of the Japanese Exhibit, Symphony of Colors, at the AQS Phoenix Quilt Show 2016.

I saw this quilt a few years back, and was inspired to make one also. Mine is a little different, in that I started out with just yellow circles in the center, then on to orange, red, purple, blue, green and then starting over again with all the colors. I’m hoping to finish this year!!!

I really admire Yoshiko's work. Circles are so easy to mess up, just a thread or two out of place and the circle is no longer round. Such a beautiful quilt with the colors and the flow. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for including the size of the quilt. It's always helpful to my brain's comprehension but rarely listed.

I was 'inspired' by this quilt, so did an 18"x22" with a variety of batik circles - Even at that small size, I used 589 circles - took me FOREVER! I can't even IMAGINE how many are in her quilt - she must have the patience of Job!!!
