Only a small percentage of quilters ever display their quilts in public. Sure there are a few confident souls who enter a quilt in a show...and, a few more that actually integrate their creations into their home decor.  But, a majority of quilters make quilts to use or to gift to someone else.  Lately I have had the pleasure of running into Quilts in Public Places...and the more I think about it, the more I think every quilter can find all kinds of interesting places to share their quilts!  All it takes is asking...I would love to see a regular quilt display in every library, city hall, school, hospital, assisted living facility, Welcome Center...the possibilities are endless and a quilt revival would begin. Rather than keep those piles of quilts folded up in the closet find a place where they can be shared.

What started all these ideas bouncing around in my head was as I was helping my sister get to her gate at the airport I stopped short when I saw a whole display of wall hangings in the airport. Charlyn Hughes of Bend, Oregon had a wonderful display that honored nature. What a lovely place to hang quilts for stressed people to stop and enjoy. I hope you enjoy the slide show and maybe open your mind to the possibility of displaying your quilts in a public place.

Always enjoy your videos & articles. I was wondering how you were enjoying your new double iron? I see they now have one with a ceramic plate instead of stainless steel & wonder about your thoughts on it.
Thanks. Keep on traveling.

These are just the kind of quilts/wall hangings I love to make and see. I think some of these are McKenna Ryan designs. Oregon seems like the perfect place to show these quilts. Thanks so much for the slide show, Anna.

I have made a few quilts for public display. One for my husband's office including integrating the company logo to hang inside the front door. The day after I hung it, they fired him. I kept the quilt! I have aslo made the sign for my studio door and a good number of quilted wall hangings for Christian worship including the pastor's vestments as well as the wall and altar paraments. I have also created banners and quilted displays for our VFW as well.
