You hear all about the who's who in the quilting world and their fabulous quilts. They inspire us and make us dream of recreating their designs in our someday quilts. But, I am truly amazed by that quilter who is sitting right next to me and is quietly making a quilt of their own design. I love making quilts and am a great quilt customer, but when I am sitting next to a friend who is designing and making a quilt from their own imagination...well...it opens up the possibilities in my own quilting heart. And so, I was stitching with a small group of stitchers in my hometown, when Sue brought out her stitching. It was enchanting, imaginative and sweet and I couldn't stop asking the how and why of her process. She is making these Counting Quilts, as she calls them, for future members of her family. My take away from all my questions was, don't rush the process (project) and put love and laughter into each quilt!
