Aki Sakai is no stranger to teeny tiny details as you can see in her quilts, Merry Christmas and Happy Halloween 2. In Joyful Heart she uses the quilt as an "album" to share her memories.

Aki's quilt won Best Hand Workmanship at AQS Lancaster 2014 and Best Use of Embellishment at PIQF 2015.

Aki Sakai has a very busy mind and we can be thankful that it can flow out of her fingers. This is wonderful work.

My Mom was a professional artist. Her stock answer to "how long does it take" was "as long as it takes and sometimes up to 10 years depending on the subject". It usually got a startled response.

Quilting is a serious endeavor in Japan. Most quilters attend a 4 year schooling in quilting under the guidance of master quilters.

I hate it when people who don't sew, ask me how long it took me to complete a quilt or any other project, but seriously!!!!!! ! How long does it take you to do a masterpiece like this? It is simply stunning! I bow down to your abilities!
