Linda Anderson's quilt, Yuja, was inspired by the phenomenal claisscal pianist Yuja Wang. As you look at the quilt, you'll swear you can hear her play.
Yuja was inspired from an interview I saw on PBS on this phenomenal classical pianist, Yuja Wang, who has a personality and presentation that are unique in the world of symphonies. The background and musical script are all hand painted and then stitched on top of the lines, as well around the note shapes. I continued the staff lines onto the piano for the continued feel of movement. She also is hand painted and raw edge applique, as are all the various pieces in foreground. Thread painting was used for face and arms.
Yuja received the Director’s Choice Award at Road to California 2017 and Best Wall Quilt PIQF 2016.
