We still have a lot to show you from the Broderie Perse exhibit at the Houston Quilt Festival. It was extraordinary. The sign at the bottom of this article says this piece is circa 1600. In the final close-up, you can see the fabric disintegrating, but the embroidery still looks great. (You win, embroiderers!)

Hard to believe that people would walk on anything this beautiful. Had not heard of floor spread before. Simply gorgeous.

Beautiful! Thank you for sharing, I did not know that anything of this style was done in 1600.

Since I couldn't go to Houston for the show, I am really thankful to get to see these photos.

Such delicate, intricate work is very much appreciated and I love the Jacobean flair of the embroidery

Thank you so much for the details! I was in Houston and saw this, but there was NO way you can get this close without alarming the guards and the Ladies of the White Gloves. What a gift!

Breath-taking! I am amazed! I wonder if this was one person's work or perhaps more. Obviously, we cannot know for sure.
