Mel recently completed two challenges just in time for the QuiltCon deadline. To learn more about Mel and find out how she completes her challenges (somewhere around 18 this year alone) watch Show 2112: Creating Improvisational Patchwork and Modern Molas & A New Spin on an Antique Quilt.

Mel recently wrote about her design process for both challenges in her Nov. 30th and Dec. 1st blogs, read it about them here.

I especially love the triangle quilt and went to the blog and so enjoyed Mel's description of her process and the artist statement!
Thanks for sharing!

I really loved the show with Ms. Beach! Her quilts were fun, interesting and beautiful. I especially liked her modern mola demonstration. I had tried something similar years ago by making large snowflakes out of newsprint, pinning them on black fabric and continuing on the way Mel did hers. I might try it again with contact paper as it seems a much better way!! Love both of these quilts too, especially the flying geese one!!
