Clayton Maxwell went on a months-long quest and, while not crafty, gained a serious respect for quilters while doing her research. Having learned about the 10 million quilters out in the world she decided to explore the magnitude of the quilting phenomenon in this article for "Texas Highways" magazine.
She learns about the Briscoe Center, The Texas Quilt Museum, and the more than 150 guilds in Texas alone. She also talks to Karey Bresenhan, a fifth-generation Texas quilter and founder of the Houston International Quilt Festival.
