When we saw the wonderful quilt by Judy Ahlborn of her daughter, done in the style of Alphonse Mucha, it reminded us of a special quilt at Houston 2017 that was inspired by Mucha's "La Primevere," Mariko Miwa's I Love Mucha.

Capt'n John:

I take so many pictures so fast that I missed seeing the woman in the middle. I concentrated on the birds and didn't realize what the main feature was until I saw the picture "La Primevere" (last picture below) that it was based on."

Did you miss it too?

This is so awesome. I love reverse applique and would love to see this artist, or someone else who is an expert, demonstrate on the quilt show, the intricacies of doing a work as detailed as this quilt. It is more than "just" stained glass in fabric!

Totally Awesome! I, like others did not see the woman on first go around.

I've only ever done a single circle reverse alpplique
and it was quite a difficult feat for me. This is as beautiful as any stain glassed winder I have seen in a cathedral.

I had to go back and look for the lady. This is brilliant and would look lovely in my home. I love the effect and the colors. It's a work of art by a very talented quilter. I love the style of art noveau.

Ahhhh...NOW I see the woman!!! Completely missed it the first go-around, but I was thinking that was an ARM holding the flowers! Ha Ha

Now I see it. It was only after looking at the headdress in the original and going to the "bangs" in the quilt that I saw the profile, and the bent arm emerge. It helps to know she's holding the flowers to her nose...suddenly it emerges. I too love Mucha.
