The Best of Show - Wearable - this year at PIQF is a bit different from your average quilted wearable. It's something textile artist Cathy Wiggins (Show 1909) might love...or perhaps Xena, Warrior Princess. Harold Thomas' Portmanteau is really quite out of the ordinary.

One could say that the rivets replace thread for stitching the "quilting".

It is unique, but definitely not quilting. Can't believe it was accepted in this category. Ugh!

I'm guessing there were lots of garments made with beautiful fabric and various embellishments. Where are they? If I had to lose to this ugly "garment" I would be upset. Why was it in a quilt show? I would rather see a a quilt by an "average" quiltmaker who couldn't get her work accepted into the show. Just because someone calls something art doesn't make it so.

This is beautiful patchwork even though it doesn't have much to do with quilting. I think there is an assumption that entries have something to do with quilting when entering in a QUILT show. That said, I would love to see it on a real person.

A bit "S&M" ie if you know what I mean. And why oh why was it ever even admitted into competition in QUILTED wearable? Too many things in our Country changing and not for the better

Awesome and creative, yes. For a movie set. Frankly it's just plain ugly as wearable art.

Wearable Quilt Art? I guess not. This is more of a costume. What person in their right mind would wear this out of the house unless they wear it for Halloween. Every year I see more unrelated items getting into the show. What relationship does wearable art have to Quilts? While I usually appreciate the entries into this category, this one does not compute for me.
