Fused Appliqué, Machine Appliqué, Free-Motion Quilting, and Machine Piecing are all used in this wonderful traditional quilt. Judy Wolff and Angela McCorkle created Paisley Park Feathered Star, 89" x 89," and it was accepted at AQS QuiltWeek Spring Paducah 2017. We love the pieced points, the flowing appliqué, and the use of a white fabric mixed with swirls of light brown to blend with the colors in the quilt. Are you a fan of Traditional Quilts? Here is a great example.

Angela quilted a group quilt using the Feathered Star that we featured in July and it won first place. Click here to see it:

Beautifully done. While this is truly a traditional quilt in design, it is also beautifully machine quilted. I do not agree that quilts that have lots of quilting are always stiff and no longer soft. I love dense quilting and have found that more often the batting is the reason it can get stiff. I don't know what this quilt has as batting, but also do not know its intended use. The quilt on my bed has lots of dense quilting using wool batt alone, and still is very soft and cuddly. Hats off to Judy and Angela for a show stopping quilt. It's beautiful.

I think that it is the wonderful machine quilting that makes this quilt so spectacular. Keep up the great work!!,

Awesome piecing, applique and quilting! It would have struck me really traditional if it had been at least hand quilted if not all hand-done. But a wonerful piece to enjoy. Thank you for showing!

This caliber of "quilt" is not just a quilt. I don't believe anyone, including the artist expected it to be used as bedding. These quilts should be entitled "Fabric Art. They truly are fabric masterpiece. Machine quilting is a step up from doing things the hard way. Does anyone wash clothes using a tub of water and hand scub? I think not. Hats off to all those master quilters who show their art.

I love your quilt. Although to some it needed hand quilting. As long as the quilting is well done which this is, then it is truly a winner. Congrats.

Gorgeous quilt. I however agree with #4's comment.
I find machine-quiltin g a blessing and a curse. The machine quilting (and technique) is beyond amazing BUT, this 'traditional' quilt is crying to be hand-quilted so it will be soft and snuggly.
The design and workmanship are incredible, however, when machine-quilted to within an inch of its life, it becomes stiff: a showpiece to look at but not to actually use.

agree with comment #4.
It is an absolutely gorgeous quilt but machine-quiltin g it makes it no longer traditional in my book. Traditional and machine-quilted are like apples and oranges and when quilted to the inch of it's life, it is no longer the wonderfully soft cuddle under quilt it is meant to be.
I find machine quilting a blessing and a curse.
It is not that the machine quilting is not absolutely gorgeous, it is just that this beautiful quilt is crying to be hand-quilted
