Alex is always busy at quilt shows and regrets that she doesn't always have time to see the quilts. However, this quilt stopped her as she ran from one venue to another. Jacquelyn (Jaki) Rowe entered in Paducah 2017 this 60" x 76" Modern Quilt entitled Slice (Variation). The bold graphics are a variation of the Slice Pattern by Marjorie Rhine of Quilt Design NW.

Jaki made a spectacular quilt. I know Jaki from Michigan and her work has always been fantastic. We miss her here and are thrilled to see what she has been producing.

I certainly understand why "Slice (Variation)" caught Alex's attention. This quilt is visually exciting and I love Jaki's use of asymmetrical balance. Her machine quilting is a delightful juxtaposition of curvy designs against her bold linear graphic piecing. Fabulous use of an unexpected color palette. I knew Jaki years ago in Miami when she first started quilting and have to say, cudos to you and "you've come a long way baby"!
