Preparing the walls of flowers for the 2012 Dior Fashion show required an army and expert organization. Just imagine what we could do as quilters with this much help. Beautiful beyond words, but kind've wonder how strong the fragrance was...

Quoting DOROTHY:
I AGREE WITH HILLARY GOODING. TOTAL WASTE OF BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS AND $$$ COULD HAVE BEEN USED FOR FEEDING THE HUNGRY.

It wouldn't, though, so why begrudge it?

Looks a lot like working on a Rose Parade float. What fun!!!

To those who say "waste of money, should be growing crops" la la la. How do they feel about cotton grown just to be used in their hobby of quilting? or stored in their stash?

Beautiful. Amazing what people can create. Wish I could see the show too. I love over the top just like some of the quilt we make ;-)

Agree with Jodie. Gorgeous and provides lots of jobs from flower growers to work people on camera. These flowers have little scent. The florist business was hit hard by the Great Recession.

I agree with Hilary, Joy, D, Pauline, and Dorothy! Hideous waste of the earth's resources, for a not particularly wonderful result.

Of course it was over the top - but the cultivation and harvesting of all those flowers provided jobs instead of handouts for people in a poor country, not to mention all the jobs here. And the beauty of the creation of the flowers themselves - how can one not appreciate that, with all their individual variations in details and subtleties of coloration?!

What a waste of money and manpower.
Better to grow crops to feed people.
