Jen at Shabby Fabrics has a new, very practical tutorial, on how to make an ultimate toddler bib. The best part? It's reversible.

This sews up very fast. I made 3 in about 2 hours as a gift to a friend with a 8 month old baby and she was thrilled. She thought the pocket would be especially good.

Had to rewatch the video to get the binding sequence right, since the written instructions are only provided with the purchased pattern. Agree that one probably would not use both sides without washing between uses, so having different prints is nice. The two layers do give the bib a little extra thickness and absorbency. Next time I might use a heavier single layer fabric and one pocket.

I also glue basted the layers to ensure perfect alignment while sewing instead of using clips. Binding sewed on very easily, especially after the great tip about the 'top' and 'bottom' sides. Thanks.

I downloaded the pdf pattern, but is there also directions to download? I don't see any directions with the pdf pattern. Thanks

Why do you use fannel fabric instead of just plain cotton fabric?

Hardly patchwork - or practical. Would you put the gooey side of a bib next to a clean babygrow???

Why not make the pattern a little bigger and make an artist smock?
