Do you take care of your sewing machine? A little bit of preventative maintenance, like that shown in this video for the BERNINA 750, will keep you stitching on the right path. These types of videos are easy to find, just head over to YouTube and type in sewing machine maintenance in the search box, you'll find all kinds of information, just make sure it applies to your machine.

I love cleaning and oiling my machines! It's way more fun with the vintage Berninas and Singers,, with all their oiling points, than it is with my Bernina 880. You can't get inside the new machines.

I have a 185 and much of this did not apply. I have always tried to clean it during projects but my Bernina store wants me to bring it in.

I don't own a Bernina 730 but rather a Bernina 440. The instruction manual advises that you lower the feed dogs before removing the stitch plate. That makes sense to me.

This was very informative.
I have an Artista 185 and have never received instructions on cleaning it. I do my best and it is working fine.
I would like to know the steps in cleaning it as I know there isn't an oil well. And how often to clean it.
Thank you!

Thanks so much for posting this video. I did not know about the oil reserve well beneath the stitch plate!

When removing the stitch plate I was advised to lower the feed dogs before doing this as it helps to protect them from damage. This was not shown on the video. Any thoughts?
