Capt'n John calls Sue Garman's Halo Medallion Quilt a "No-UFO" pattern. Okay, John, why?:

"There are 2 reasons I call it "No-UFO."

1. The first is that the learning process has lessons you will use in other quilts. This naturally keeps you moving forward. The stars, the circular flying geese, the delectable mountains can all be used in future quilts or for amazing borders.

2. Second, take a look at the quilt. If you finish any month, you are done. Each section from the middle out can stand alone as a finished piece. The center star on-point is beautiful. You can stop there. Or add the next section around it. You can stop there. As you add each section, you can stop and have a wonderful wall hanging. No-UFO!

Do you agree?

Yes! Please add a line drawing we can print out to play with colors. Better yet, one that can go into EQ7 to make color play even easier. But a line drawing would be super! The quilt is gorgeous - making it!

I am going to use my own fabrics too. I would love to have a line drawing of the quilt so I could play with my colored pencils. Any chance of that happening?

I'm going to make this quilt for my grandson and his new bride. I have bought the beginning fabrics for month 1 and will add as I go along. Can't wait.

The fabric requirements are under the "Learn" menu in BOM 2017. It is also called the Introduction. We love seeing the color choices of people who use their stash.

So lovely. Are fabric requirements listed for those of us who have an extraordinary stash and want to use it?
I'm a SABLE ( stash accumulated beyond life expectancy).

Yes, Absolutely I agree with John. The 2017 BOM is beautiful at every stage of its completion. I so love those circular flying geese! Looking forward to the New Year and another year of being a Star Member of TQS.

Merry Christmas and May 2017 be the best year ever for TQS and all those who are behind the scenes. I think I can speak for all of us that we so appreciate your work and how completely you keep us immersed with quilting eye candy, techniques and teachers from around the globe.

The patterns start Jan 1 and are for ALL Star members not just new.

It is a beauty! When you see a quilt like this and get excited and can't wait to get started that's a winner. I am a member and am assuming we will get the pattern as well as the new members.

Capt´n John, I total agree. It is so beautiful and I fell in love with it, the moment I saw it. Just like with "Star of a new day" in 2009. It took me 4 years 1 month and 6 days to make that Quilt and it was never a UFO. It was there all the time on my designwall made speciel for that Quilt. It took me this long because of a "divorce" and a move to a new apartment and because I dyed all the fabrics myself. I must admit, when I was finished, I did cry a little bit :-* This time I am also going to dye my fabrics myself and hopefully it wont take as long as last time, but if, it doesn´t matter, because it is a work in progress on the designwall
